As part of the Government’s nationwide campaign to encourage supply teachers and support staff to return to the classroom to ensure our schools remain open for the critical learning of our students, CPD resources have been made readily available for those that might have been out of the profession in recent months.
We wanted to make our teaching and support staff aware of these resources available through Oak National Academy for your own benefit and also to share amongst the teaching community where possible. ECTs may also find these resources helpful in addition to our support pack which you can download here.
Oak National Academy has over 40,000 free and easy to access lessons and resources for 4-16 year olds across a wide range of subjects. All of the lessons have been created by teachers for teachers and cover just about everything a supply teacher might be asked to cover.
You will be able to send students lesson links for online learning for when they are unable to attend the classroom and you call even ‘team-teach’ using the Oak Teacher alongside you and playing the lesson video as needed.
Oak’s own data shows that over 40% of teachers already use Oak National Academy to support them with cover lessons. These resources have been shared in the hope that they will be able to make a contribution in situations including where:
- A potential new recruit does have the time to cover lessons but may be worried about the additional time required to plan and resource lessons from scratch.
- A potential new recruit might be confident in their subject but worried about covering lessons beyond their subject specialism.
- A potential new recruit might feel ‘rusty’ and want support with them, particularly during those first few lessons.
Oak National Academy will be hosting a dedicated webinar in the very near future to provide guidance and support through the resources and by signing up to their mailing list you will be notified as to when these webinars are live.
