About the role:

A specialist SEND school in Wigan is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Support Staff to join their team on a long-term basis, starting as soon as possible. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual educational and personal goals within a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, SEND professionals, and therapists to provide tailored support for students with a variety of needs, including autism, learning difficulties, communication needs, and complex SEND requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference and supporting young people to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND needs.
  • Assist students in accessing learning activities and engaging positively in the classroom.
  • Support the implementation of EHCP targets and individual support plans.
  • Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, and independence throughout the school day.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to support pupil progress.

 

Pre-requisites:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a SEND, education, care, or support setting.
  • Understanding of additional needs, including autism, learning difficulties, and communication challenges.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting learners.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
