About the role:

Justteachers currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Barnoldswick. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to engage positively with education and achieve their full potential. The school are looking for full time candidates.

Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and personal development.
  • Support students in managing their emotions, behaviour and social interactions.
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions.
  • Promote positive behaviour and implement agreed behaviour support strategies.
  • Help create a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents and external professionals to support student wellbeing and progress.
  • Monitor and record student progress and contribute to support plans where required.

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience supporting SEN students in a UK school
  • Ability to deliver one-to-one support
  • Understanding of EHCP targets and interventions
  • Patient and adaptable approach to learning support
