About the role:

Justteachers is working with a secondary school in Leamington Spa that is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Art Teacher to deliver engaging lessons across the Art and Design curriculum. This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable practitioner to inspire pupils’ imagination, technical skill, visual literacy, and confidence through a wide range of artistic processes and materials.

You’ll plan and teach high-quality Art lessons that encourage experimentation, observation, research, development, and personal expression. Working within a supportive department, you’ll introduce pupils to artists, designers, movements, and cultural contexts, assess portfolios carefully, and maintain a safe, inclusive studio environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Art and Design lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, meeting curriculum and qualification requirements.
  • Teach a broad range of practical and creative skills, which may include drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, photography, and digital media.
  • Support pupils in researching artists and developing ideas, sketchbooks, portfolios, and final outcomes.
  • Assess pupils’ work, provide constructive feedback, and use progress information to plan appropriate support and challenge.
  • Maintain a safe, organised studio, manage materials and equipment responsibly, and follow safeguarding and behaviour procedures at all times.

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • A relevant degree or strong subject knowledge in Art, Fine Art, Art and Design, or a related creative discipline.
  • Experience teaching Art and Design at Key Stages 3 and 4 in a UK secondary school or comparable educational setting.
  • Strong classroom management, assessment, and communication skills, with an understanding of studio health and safety and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Two relevant references, ideally from educational settings.
