About the role:

Justteachers are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Thetford that is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Music Teacher to join their team on a part-time basis from September to December.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and committed Music Teacher who is eager to inspire students and develop their confidence, creativity, and appreciation of music. The successful candidate will join a supportive department, delivering engaging lessons that encourage students to explore performance, composition, and musical understanding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective Music lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Inspire students through practical music-making, performance, composition, and theoretical learning.
  • Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, using assessment information to support student development.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and varying levels of musical ability.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages creativity and participation.
  • Promote confidence, collaboration, and a love of music within the classroom.
  • Support students preparing for performances, assessments, and musical activities where appropriate.
  • Maintain high expectations of student behaviour and engagement in line with the school’s policies.
  • Work collaboratively with the Music department and wider school team to support curriculum development.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and carers regarding pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and school events where required.
  • Promote safeguarding and the welfare of all children at all times.
  • Uphold the school’s values and commitment to delivering high-quality education.

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Music within a secondary school setting is desirable.
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver engaging Music lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Ability to inspire students through practical and theoretical aspects of music.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A passion for music education and supporting young people’s creativity.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative department and wider school team.
  • A flexible, proactive, and professional approach to teaching and learning.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Two recent education-based references.
