About the role:

A mainstream secondary school in Barnsley is seeking an experienced Teacher to join their brand-new Alternative Provision starting in September 2026 on a full-time temp to perm basis. This long-term supply opportunity will involve teaching students with SEMH and Autism across a newly developed provision catering for 150 students split across 10 smaller classes. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding and inclusive school with a strong focus on nurturing relationships, positive outcomes and supporting every student to achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students with additional needs
  • Support students with SEMH and Autism to access learning and achieve progress
  • Create a positive, structured and inclusive classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with pastoral teams, support staff and external agencies
  • Monitor student progress and implement behaviour support strategies effectively

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven experience working with students with SEMH and Autism in a similar setting
  • Strong knowledge of behaviour management and differentiated learning strategies
  • Two education or school-based references
  • A resilient, nurturing and adaptable approach to teaching
