About the role:

justteachers are currently recruiting for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant position within a specialist provision in the Lincoln area, starting in September on a temporary to permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to establish a long-term career within specialist education. The provision supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, learning difficulties, and associated communication needs.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and specialist professionals to provide tailored support, helping pupils access learning, develop independence, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with autism
Supporting pupils to access learning and engage in classroom activities
Using autism-friendly strategies, visual supports and structured routines
Promoting communication, social interaction and independence skills
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Working closely with teachers, therapists and specialist support staff
Assisting pupils during transitions and throughout the school day
Implementing EHCP targets and personalised support plans
Monitoring and recording pupil progress, wellbeing and engagement

Pre-requisites:

Experience working with children, young people or adults with autism or additional needs
Candidates from education, care, support work, residential care or similar backgrounds
A calm, patient and consistent approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
An understanding of autism-friendly practices and communication strategies
The ability to adapt support to meet individual pupil needs
A genuine passion for supporting young people to reach their potential

As part of our safeguarding and compliance process, we require a minimum of two professional references covering the last two years in full, along with an Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
