About the role:

A welcoming SEND school in Spalding is seeking a dedicated SEND Support Worker to join their team for the new academic year. The school supports children and young people of various ages and abilities, providing tailored education for pupils with a wide range of special educational needs, including Autism , ADHD, Speech and Language Needs, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, SLD and PMLD.

This role can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis and involves supporting students both in and outside of the classroom to help them achieve their individual learning, social, and developmental goals

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support to pupils with a range of SEND needs, helping them access learning and engage positively throughout the school day.
  • Work closely with teachers and wider school staff to deliver tailored support in line with individual education and behaviour plans.
  • Support pupils with classroom activities, adapting tasks and instructions to meet individual learning needs and promote independence.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social interaction through calm, consistent, and nurturing approaches.
  • Assist with personal development, life skills, and confidence-building activities both in lessons and during unstructured times such as break and lunch.
  • Use a range of support strategies, including visual aids, sensory approaches, communication tools, and structured routines to help pupils succeed.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, acting as a trusted and supportive adult within the school environment.
  • Support pupils during transitions between lessons, activities, and school routines, helping them feel safe, settled, and ready to learn.

Pre-requisites:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people in education, care, youth work, residential settings, sports coaching, mentoring, or similar environments.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, a range of SEND needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties, and communication needs.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain patient, resilient, and adaptable in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.
  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care, Childcare, Youth Work, or equivalent experience are desirable but not essential.
