About the role:

We are seeking to appoint a caring, dedicated, and proactive Pastoral Care Co-ordinator to join a welcoming secondary school in Doncaster. This is a full-time, long-term position starting in September 2026. For the successful candidate, there may be the opportunity to secure a permanent role following an initial period working on a supply basis.

As a Pastoral Care Co-ordinator, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and overall school experience. Working closely with staff, students, parents, and carers, you will help foster a positive, inclusive environment where every young person can flourish both academically and personally. We are also considering candidates with a background in other closely related roles, such as cover manager or safeguarding positions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day pastoral support for students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support the implementation of effective behaviour management strategies, including restorative approaches.
  • Monitor and encourage high levels of attendance and punctuality.
  • Develop positive relationships with parents and carers to support students’ wellbeing and achievement.
  • Deliver targeted interventions for vulnerable and at-risk students.
  • Contribute to safeguarding and child protection procedures in line with school policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student support, interventions, and outcomes.

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working with young people aged 11–16, ideally within a secondary school setting.
  • A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and student wellbeing.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, counselling, safeguarding, or a related field are desirable but not essential.
