About the role:

We are seeking a passionate Pastoral Head of Year to join a highly regarded secondary school in Salford on a long-term basis starting September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting the wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and personal development of students. Working closely with staff and parents, you will provide strong pastoral leadership, helping to create a positive and inclusive environment where every student is encouraged to thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the pastoral care, wellbeing, and personal development of students within the year group.
  • Monitor attendance, behaviour, and academic progress, implementing support where required.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and staff to promote student success.
  • Work closely with school teams and external agencies to ensure students receive appropriate guidance and support.

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
  • Experience as a Form Tutor, Pastoral Lead, Year Leader, or similar pastoral role.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding, attendance, and student welfare.
  • Ability to work effectively with parents, staff, and external agencies.
  • Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
