About the role:
justteachers are currently recruiting for a full-time Complex Needs Teaching Assistant position within a specialist provision in the Peterborough area, starting in September on a long-term basis.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with a range of complex special educational needs, including autism, moderate to severe learning difficulties, communication needs, and associated physical, sensory and behavioural needs. The setting provides a highly personalised and supportive environment, with learning tailored to individual EHCP outcomes.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, therapists and specialist staff to help pupils access learning, develop independence, and achieve meaningful progress in a structured educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex needs
Supporting personalised learning programmes and interventions
Assisting pupils with communication, sensory and emotional regulation strategies
Promoting independence, engagement and confidence in learning
Working closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals
Supporting pupils with personal care and physical needs where required
Helping to create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
Monitoring and recording pupil progress, wellbeing and engagement
Pre-requisites:
Experience supporting children, young people or adults with complex needs, SEN, autism, learning disabilities or additional needs
Candidates from education, care, support work, residential care or similar backgrounds
A patient, caring and resilient approach
Confidence supporting individuals with varying levels of need
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A willingness to support personal care where required
A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential
As part of our safeguarding and compliance process, we require a minimum of two professional references covering the last two years in full, along with an Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
