About the role:
justteachers are currently recruiting for a full-time Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) position within a specialist provision in the Oakham area, starting in September on a long-term basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA, Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant or aspiring teacher looking to take on a more varied role within a specialist educational setting. The provision supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, learning difficulties, and associated communication needs.
The successful candidate will support pupils across the curriculum, working closely with teaching staff to deliver engaging learning activities, provide classroom cover where required, and help pupils achieve positive academic and personal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting teaching and learning across a range of curriculum subjects
Delivering small group, 1:1 and whole-class learning activities
Providing lesson cover in the absence of teaching staff
Supporting the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
Encouraging pupil engagement, independence and confidence
Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
Working closely with teachers, teaching assistants and pastoral staff
Monitoring and recording pupil progress and engagement
Helping to maintain a structured, inclusive and supportive learning environment
Pre-requisites:
HLTA status, a Level 4 qualification, or equivalent relevant experience
Previous experience supporting children or young people within an educational setting
Confidence leading learning activities and managing groups independently
Strong communication and behaviour management skills
Experience supporting pupils with SEN is desirable
A flexible, proactive and adaptable approach
A commitment to helping pupils achieve their full potential
As part of our safeguarding and compliance process, we require a minimum of two professional references covering the last two years in full, along with an Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
