About the role:

justteachers is recruiting a Pastoral Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive SEN school in Stratford-upon-Avon from September 2026. This rewarding role is ideal for someone with a passion for supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development, helping them to achieve their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral, emotional, and behavioural support to pupils across the school.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students to promote wellbeing and engagement.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, social interaction, and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Work alongside teachers to remove barriers to learning and improve attendance and engagement.
  • Deliver targeted interventions on topics such as resilience, confidence, emotional literacy, and social skills.
  • Support pupils during unstructured times, including breaktimes and lunchtimes.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to support plans

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN, education, youth work, or care setting.
  • A calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • Confidence working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
