About the role:

justteachers are working with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Leeds who are looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join them from September on a long-term supply basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a patient, proactive and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people’s learning, confidence and development within a secondary school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils across the secondary age range within the classroom
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required
  • Assisting class teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Supporting pupils with additional learning needs, including SEND, SEMH or EAL where required
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, independence and engagement in learning
  • Working closely with teaching staff, SEN staff and pastoral teams to support pupil progress and wellbeing

Pre-requisites:

  • Have experience working with secondary-aged pupils
  • Be confident supporting pupils in a classroom or small-group setting
  • Have a calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Be able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
  • Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or have equivalent experience
  • Be able to provide two education or school-based references
