About the role:

Justteachers is seeking a compassionate and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary special needs school in Bolton. This full-time role offers the opportunity to make a real difference by providing individualised support to a child with additional needs.

The school caters for pupils with a variety of complex needs, including autism, learning difficulties, communication challenges, and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs. Staff work collaboratively to create a nurturing, structured, and engaging environment where every child is supported to thrive.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a specific pupil, helping them access learning and develop key skills.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow individual learning plans (EHCPs).
  • Support the pupil’s emotional and social development, using positive behaviour strategies.
  • Adapt resources and activities to meet the child’s needs and encourage independence.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment.

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience supporting children with SEND, ideally in a school or 1:1 setting.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach with strong behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to supporting the child’s academic and personal development.
  • Two relevant references, preferably from an education or care background.
