About the role:

justteachers is recruiting confident and adaptable Cover Supervisors to work with secondary schools in the Harrogate area from September on an ad hoc supply basis. This flexible role is ideal for experienced Cover Supervisors, graduates considering a career in teaching, or individuals with strong experience working with young people who are looking to gain valuable classroom experience.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into the classroom during teacher absence, supervise pupils completing pre-set work, and help maintain a positive, focused and safe learning environment. The work will be offered on an ad hoc basis, giving you the flexibility to accept assignments that suit your availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of the class teacher.
  • Deliver pre-set work across a range of subjects and year groups.
  • Encourage pupils to stay on task and complete work to the best of their ability.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Maintain a calm, safe and productive learning environment.
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons where required.

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged pupils or young people in a school, coaching, mentoring, youth work or support setting.
  • Confidence leading a classroom independently and giving clear instructions.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • A calm, professional and adaptable approach.
  • Reliability, punctuality and the ability to work across different school environments.
