About the role:

Justteachers is seeking a passionate and dedicated Health & Social Care Teacher to join a welcoming secondary school in Wakefield from September 2026. This is a full-time teaching position running until December 2026, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive department, delivering engaging and high-quality lessons that inspire students to develop their understanding of health, social care, and related career pathways.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Plan and deliver engaging Health & Social Care lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports student achievement.
  • Prepare students for examinations and coursework requirements.
  • Differentiate learning materials to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Contribute to departmental planning, meetings, and school events where required.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour management and safeguarding.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

 

Pre-requisites:

 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Health & Social Care within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of relevant examination specifications.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Two school based references.
