About the role:

A supportive and inclusive SEND school in Gainsborough is looking to appoint a compassionate and committed Teaching Assistant. The setting works with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, providing a structured and nurturing environment where pupils are supported to achieve their academic potential while building confidence and independence. This role is available on a full-time or part-time basis with an immediate start.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with a range of SEND needs, helping them to access learning in a way that suits their individual abilities.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to adapt and deliver differentiated activities, breaking down tasks into manageable steps.
  • Use a variety of support strategies, including visual resources, practical activities, and clear instructions, to promote engagement.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to reinforce learning and encourage participation.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment, supporting pupils with behaviour and emotional regulation where needed.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social development through consistent support and positive reinforcement.

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND in schools, care, or similar settings.
  • Understanding of different special educational needs and how to support pupils effectively.
  • Confidence in adapting learning approaches and supporting engagement within the classroom.
  • Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or equivalent experience.
