About the role:

Justteachers are looking for a caring and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a school setting in Orrell, Wigan. This role involves working with children who have a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties. You will play a key role in helping students access learning and feel supported both academically and emotionally.

Working closely with the class teacher and SENDCo, you will provide 1:1 and small group support, adapting activities to meet individual needs and promoting a positive, inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND
  • Assist in delivering differentiated lessons to meet individual learning needs
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) or EHCP targets
  • Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals

 

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • Understanding of additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, or speech & language difficulties
  • A patient, empathetic, and supportive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
