About the role:

Justteachers are currently recruiting for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and welcoming Primary school for a full time position in Openshaw, Manchester. This is to start in September 2026 and will be for the school year

This role involves providing tailored, one-to-one support for a student, both within mainstream classroom lessons and, where required, in a more focused or specialist setting. You will play a key role in supporting the student to access the curriculum, build confidence, and work towards their individual academic and personal development goals.

You will work closely with teaching staff and SEN professionals to ensure the pupil receives consistent, high-quality support throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs (e.g. SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs)
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
  • Help the pupil stay engaged, focused, and motivated
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies
  • Encourage social interaction and emotional development

 

Pre-requisites:

  • Previous experience working with children, ideally in a school or support setting
  • Experience supporting SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH) is highly desirable
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient personality
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
