About the role:

justteachers is seeking a practical, organised and reliable DT Technician to support a welcoming secondary school in the wider Leeds area on a full-time basis. This is an excellent supply opportunity for someone with strong technical skills, a proactive approach and an interest in supporting high-quality teaching and learning within a busy Design and Technology department.

The successful candidate will provide essential technical support for DT lessons, helping to prepare materials, maintain equipment and ensure practical learning spaces are safe, well organised and ready for use. You will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils’ learning across a range of Design and Technology disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, set up and clear away tools, equipment and materials for DT lessons and practical activities.
  • Support the safe use and maintenance of machinery, tools and workshop equipment.
  • Assist teaching staff during practical lessons where appropriate.
  • Maintain stock levels, order materials and keep accurate records as required.
  • Ensure DT classrooms, workshops and storage areas are clean, organised and compliant with health and safety procedures.
  • Support pupils in developing safe and responsible working practices.

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working in a DT, workshop, practical, technical or school-based environment.
  • Good knowledge of workshop tools, equipment, materials and health and safety practices.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A practical, flexible and proactive approach to supporting staff and pupils.
  • Confidence working as part of a team within a busy school environment.
