About the role:

Justteachers is seeking an experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support a welcoming primary school in Leeds from September 2026. This role involves delivering high‑quality classroom support, leading small groups, and providing occasional whole‑class cover.

The school is committed to securing the right person and is prepared to offer a permanent contract following a successful initial period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high‑quality support across the primary age range, with a focus on raising attainment.
  • Lead small‑group interventions and targeted learning sessions.
  • Provide planned and unplanned whole‑class cover when required.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SLT, and support staff to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Support behaviour management and promote a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Contribute to planning, assessment, and the wider school community.
  • Adapt learning materials to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND.

 

 

Pre-requisites:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
  • Confident delivering whole‑class cover and leading learning independently.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive, flexible, and supportive approach.
  • Experience working in a primary school setting (KS1 or KS2).
  • A valid or willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS on the update service.
