About the role:

justteachers are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN school in Birmingham for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support KS3 students from September 2026. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced teaching staff to provide personalised support for pupils with a range of complex learning and additional needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning within KS3 classrooms.
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group interventions.
  • Assist students with academic tasks, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Help implement personalised learning and behaviour support plans.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
  • Promote student wellbeing, independence, and confidence.

Pre-requisites:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or SEN Support Worker.
  • Understanding of SEN, including autism spectrum conditions and SEMH needs.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Relevant training in SEN, Team Teach, or behaviour support would be advantageous.
