About the role:

Justteachers is working with a specialist provision in the Wisbech area to recruit a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant for a September 2026 start. This is a long-term, temporary role with the potential for extension.
The setting supports pupils aged 7–18 with a range of complex needs, including Autism, SEMH needs and associated behavioural challenges. The school offers a structured and supportive environment, focusing on therapeutic approaches, personalised learning and positive behaviour strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, helping them access learning and engage in lessons
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering adapted and differentiated activities
  • Implement EHCP targets and individual support plans
  • Promote positive behaviour using consistent strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support their emotional regulation and wellbeing
  • Support pupils with social skills, communication and independence
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff as part of a multidisciplinary team

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally ASC and/or SEMH
  • Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, resilient approach
  • Ability to build rapport with pupils who may display challenging behaviour
  • A proactive and flexible attitude to support a dynamic classroom environment
  • Minimum of two education or childcare-based references
