About the role:

Justteachers is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Coventry from September on a full time long term basis. This is a great opportunity to support pupils in the classroom, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), help remove barriers to learning, and make a positive impact across the school day.

You’ll be part of a supportive team in a school with strong behaviour routines and a commitment to high-quality teaching and learning. The role includes supporting students across the secondary age range, including those with additional needs, working with individuals and small groups, and helping pupils stay engaged, confident, and ready to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Support teachers with the delivery of engaging lessons across the secondary curriculum, including adapting support for pupils with SEND.
• Work with individuals and small groups, including students with additional needs, to help pupils access learning and build confidence.
• Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports progress, participation, and the needs of all learners.
• Assist with behaviour management, classroom routines, and pupil engagement throughout the school day, including supporting pupils with SEND strategies where required.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support student progress, wellbeing, and individual learning plans.

Pre-requisites:

• Previous experience working with young people, ideally within a secondary school setting, and experience supporting pupils with SEND is highly desirable.
• A patient, positive, and proactive approach to supporting pupils’ learning and development.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Confidence supporting classroom routines, behaviour expectations, and pupil engagement, including adapting approaches for students with additional needs.
• Two relevant references, ideally from an educational setting.
