About the role:

A warm and nurturing one‑form‑entry primary school in North Yorkshire is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 2 Class Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This is a full‑time maternity cover position, offering the opportunity to work within a supportive school community committed to high‑quality teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the Year 2 class, delivering engaging lessons, preparing pupils for the end of Key Stage 1 assessments, and contributing positively to the wider school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and lead the Year 2 class, delivering high‑quality lessons aligned with the national curriculum.
  • Plan, prepare, and assess learning to ensure strong progress for all pupils.
  • Support pupils through KS1 SATs preparation with a calm and structured approach.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports emotional and academic development.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the school to maintain consistency and high standards.
  • Engage with parents and carers to support pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times.

 

 

 

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 1, ideally Year 2.
  • Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Ability to deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet a range of needs.
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A positive, reflective, and collaborative approach to teaching.
