About the role:

Justteachers are working in partnership with a specialist school in Newark to recruit an SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term supply position starting in September.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting students both in and out of the classroom, helping to create a structured, supportive and engaging learning environment. 

This role would suit candidates with previous SEN experience or individuals keen to develop their career within specialist education.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with special educational needs
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering adapted and differentiated learning activities
  • Support students with their social, emotional and behavioural development
  • Help manage challenging behaviours using positive behaviour strategies
  • Encourage independence and build confidence in learning
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
  • Support with personal care where required
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour

Pre-requisites:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (school or care setting desirable)
  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt to individual pupil needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Right to work in the UK
