About the role:

A dynamic, full‑time Science teaching role in Wakefield from September 2026 to February 2027, ideal for an educator with a strong classroom presence and a passion for inspiring young scientists.

You’ll join a thriving Wakefield secondary school as a full‑time Science Teacher, delivering engaging lessons across KS3 and KS4. This long‑term position runs from September 2026 through February 2027, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact on student progress and contribute to a supportive, forward‑thinking department. Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Deliver engaging lessons — Plan and teach high‑quality Science lessons that spark curiosity and deepen understanding.
  • Maintain strong classroom presence — Ensure excellent behaviour and a purposeful learning environment.
  • Track student progress — Assess, monitor, and report on attainment, using data to inform teaching.
  • Collaborate with colleagues — Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development.
  • Support GCSE learners — Guide students of all abilities, including those preparing for examinations.
  • Engage in wider school life — Attend meetings, CPD, and pastoral activities.

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience teaching Secondary Science at KS3 and KS4.
  • Demonstrable ability to command a classroom with confidence and clarity.
  • Strong subject knowledge across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and behaviour‑management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
