About the role:

We are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive Primary school on the outskirts of Norwich, who are seeking a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full time, long-term supply basis, starting September.

This school prides itself on creating an inclusive environment where every child is supported to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with Global Developmental Delay (GDD), helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and make positive progress both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with Global Developmental Delay (GDD)
  • Support the pupil’s learning, communication, and social development throughout the school day
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised support strategies
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of the pupil
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence
  • Support the pupil during classroom activities, transitions, and playtimes where required
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil and their family
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and SEN professionals
  • Contribute to creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment

Pre-requisites:

  • Previous experience working within a Primary school setting
  • Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly Global Developmental Delay (GDD), is desirable
  • A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Good behaviour management and organisational skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Two recent education-based references
