About the role:

Justteachers is a leading teaching agency dedicated to connecting passionate educators with rewarding opportunities. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner primary school as soon as possible until the end of the academic year, with the chance to continue into the next school year. This role involves supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) to ensure they receive the best possible education and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver targeted interventions and support.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the well-being and academic progress of SEN students.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of SEN students, adapting support strategies as necessary.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to support the holistic development of each child.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with SEN students.
  • Knowledge of different types of special educational needs and effective support strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning).
  • Training in specific SEN interventions or strategies (e.g., Makaton, PECS, Autism awareness).
