About the role:

justteachers is seeking an imaginative and enthusiastic Art & Design Teacher to join a vibrant creative arts department at a secondary school in Wigston. This role is perfect for a practitioner who is passionate about nurturing artistic talent and can confidently guide students through a variety of mediums, from traditional fine art to digital design. You will be responsible for fostering a studio-like atmosphere where students feel empowered to experiment, critique, and refine their work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Art & Design lessons across KS3 and KS4, tailored to various skill levels and interests.
  • Curate and organize end-of-term exhibitions to showcase student achievements to parents and the local community.
  • Maintain a safe and organized art studio environment, including the management of specialized equipment and materials.
  • Provide detailed feedback and portfolio support for GCSE students to help them achieve their predicted grades.
  • Integrate contemporary art history and diverse cultural perspectives into the curriculum to broaden student horizons.

Pre-requisites:

  • Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Fine Art, Design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching the UK National Curriculum for Art at a secondary level.
  • A strong personal portfolio of work and the ability to demonstrate technical skills across multiple disciplines.
  • Excellent classroom management and the ability to inspire students who may have varying levels of artistic confidence.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
