About the role:

We’re looking for a compassionate and proactive Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school as soon as possible in the Trafford area. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping children with additional needs thrive both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them stay engaged, confident and ready to learn.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver targeted interventions and personalised learning activities.
  • Assist in creating a calm, structured and nurturing environment that supports pupils’ emotional regulation and wellbeing.
  • Adapt resources and teaching approaches to meet individual needs and promote independence.
  • Support pupils during lessons, small‑group work and 1:1 sessions, ensuring progress is monitored and communicated effectively.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and families to promote strong home‑school communication.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and uphold the school’s commitment to pupil welfare at all times.

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN (e.g., ASD, ADHD, speech & language needs, SEMH).
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach with strong behaviour‑support skills.
  • Passionate about inclusive education and committed to helping all pupils reach their potential.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Two education or school‑based references.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
