About the role:

We are looking for a compassionate, patient and motivated ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) to join a dedicated team at a Bradford Secondary School. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s emotional wellbeing and helping them thrive both in and out of the classroom.

The role is to commence in September 2026 on a full-time and long-term basis.

As an ELSA, you will work with pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis, helping them develop emotional resilience, social skills, confidence, and positive coping strategies. You’ll be a calm, trusted adult who can offer guidance, empathy and structured support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver ELSA sessions to support pupils with emotional literacy, self-esteem, anxiety, friendships, and behaviour
  • Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team and teaching staff
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils
  • Maintain accurate records of sessions and progress
  • Contribute to a nurturing, inclusive school environment
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers when required

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working with students
  • Resilient with a can do attitude
  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for education and child development
  • Excellent behaviour management skills
  • A willingness to undertake ELSA training (or already hold ELSA certification)
  • Two school-based references
