About the role:

justteachers is seeking an exceptionally patient and skilled SEND Teacher to join an outstanding specialist school in Leicester City. This role focuses on supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), where the “curriculum” is often sensory and heavily personalized to individual needs. You will be working with a highly vulnerable yet rewarding group of students, focusing on communication, physical well-being, and sensory exploration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver a highly sensory, bespoke curriculum that meets the complex needs of students with PMLD.
  • Work collaboratively with physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and nurses to implement integrated care plans.
  • Utilize specialist communication tools such as Eye-Gaze, switches, and sensory cues to facilitate student interaction.
  • Lead and mentor a team of support staff, ensuring consistent delivery of personal care and therapeutic routines.
  • Liaise closely with parents and external agencies to ensure Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) are accurately reviewed and followed.

Pre-requisites:

  • Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Extensive experience working with children or young people with complex needs/PMLD.
  • A nurturing, resilient, and deeply empathetic approach to education.
  • Knowledge of sensory integration techniques and alternative/augmentative communication (AAC) methods.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS and a commitment to rigorous safeguarding standards.
