About the role:

A welcoming and community‑focused primary junior school in Yeadon is looking for a committed Teaching Support Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This role is available on a full‑time or part‑time basis, offering flexibility for the right candidate. You’ll be supporting pupils across the school, with a particular focus on children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, build confidence, and thrive in the classroom.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, nurturing, and passionate about making a meaningful difference in a child’s school experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with SEN, both 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, accessible learning activities.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all pupils feel supported.
  • Use strategies to promote independence, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
  • Contribute to record‑keeping, progress notes, and support plan reviews.

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working with SEN pupils in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, encouraging approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Understanding of inclusive practice and differentiated support strategies.
  • Reliability, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting young learners.
