About the role:

Start Date: After Easter 2026

A chance to join a warm, inclusive primary school in Leeds as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant with a strong focus on SEND provision. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on supporting pupils with diverse needs and is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.

You will work as a key member of the SEND team, supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1, and KS2. The role involves delivering adapted learning, leading interventions, and providing high‑quality classroom support. You’ll collaborate closely with teachers and the SENCO to ensure every child receives the personalised support they need to progress academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead small‑group and 1:1 interventions targeting communication, phonics, numeracy, social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Deliver pre‑planned lessons and provide whole‑class cover when required.
  • Adapt learning materials and teaching approaches to meet a wide range of SEND needs.
  • Support pupils with EHCPs, ensuring provision is implemented consistently.
  • Use positive behaviour strategies rooted in empathy, structure, and clear expectations.
  • Monitor pupil progress through observation, assessment, and feedback to teaching staff.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and external professionals.
  • Promote independence, resilience, and confidence in all learners.
  • Contribute to an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment.

Pre-requisites:

  • HLTA status or equivalent experience, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Proven experience supporting SEND pupils in a primary setting.
  • Strong understanding of autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, and differentiated learning.
  • Confident behaviour‑management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and helping children thrive.
