About the role:

Justteachers is seeking a passionate and adaptable English Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Coventry. This full-time, long-term role begins in September 2026 and has the potential to continue for the full academic year.

The school caters to pupils aged 4–16 with a variety of special educational needs, including autism (ASD), moderate learning difficulties (MLD), speech and language needs, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. The team is committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive environment where every child can thrive through personalised learning and a nurturing, child-centred approach.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a calm, structured, and supportive classroom environment that promotes confidence and independence.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and SEN professionals to provide holistic support.
  • Use a range of strategies to support communication, literacy development, sensory needs, and emotional regulation.
  • Track pupil progress and adjust teaching approaches to ensure consistent progress.

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), ideally with experience teaching English at primary or lower secondary level.
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly in specialist or alternative provision settings.
  • Strong understanding of adaptive teaching, communication strategies, and positive behaviour support.
  • Empathetic, patient, and creative in your approach to teaching and learning.
  • Two professional references from education settings.
