Justteachers teaching agency is recruiting for a passionate and experienced SEMH teaching assistant to work within one of our specialist partner SEMH schools located in Leeds (South), West Yorkshire. The school provides education to SEMH children with a range of complex needs.

The setting is an Ofsted rated GOOD (June 2019) special school educating children and young people aged 5-16 (KS1 to KS4) with SEMH needs.

This is a highly supportive school and could be a great opportunity for any graduates who are aspiring Teaching Assistants or Teachers.

With large open spaces, small class sizes and a strong system of staff support, the setting has a warm, nurturing environment with previous Justteachers staff describing the setting as having a ‘family feel’.

You will provide support to pupils by attending to pupils’ personal needs including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters. Encourage pupils to interact and work cooperatively and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance and develop 1:1 mentoring relationship with pupils and provide appropriate support at times of crisis.

The ideal candidate will provide support to teachers by working with the teacher and other staff in lesson planning, evaluating and adjusting lesson plans and resources as appropriate.

You will have:

  • Two references from an education or care provider
  • Experience (not essential) in supporting children with various SEN and SEMH needs.
