Behavioural Support Specialists – Various Roles within School – Bradford
A number of exciting opportunities have arisen to appoint behavioural support specialists within a pupil referral unit within the Bradford Area. The school has students who are in the care system and have challenging behaviour and all students have access to core curricular subjects as well as vocational programmes.
The school is looking for Teaching Assistants, Mentors, Tutors and HLTA’s. You will be supporting children ages 11 to 16 with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.
Due to the needs of the students it is vital that you have strong pastoral skills and are able to manage challenging behaviour effectively. A background in counselling, youth work or mental health care would be advantageous.
TEAM TEACH trained would be desirable but not essential, however a knowledge and confidence using de-escalation techniques in order to de-escalate and diffuse situations is a must.
Applicants must also be flexible in the classroom and willing to support children across the school or possibly in other units in a range of subjects, building self-esteem and re-enforcing behaviour.
Due to the background of the pupils, you will also need to be confident in working with multi-agencies in order to meet individual needs and to assist in raising attainment.
The school are looking for someone who is creative and resilient and able to engage hard to reach children in learning.
If you are a strong, motivated and confident individual who is passionate about improving the lives of pupils who have been excluded or at risk or permanent exclusion from their education then please apply.
