SEN Teaching Assistant – Birmingham
Justteachers are looking for a teaching assistant to work in a Pupil Referral unit in Birmingham where they will be supporting children aged 11 to 16 who have Emotional Social Behavioural Difficulties.
The School has students who are in the care system and have challenging behaviour and all students have access to core curricular subjects as well as vocational programmes. Due to the needs of the students it is vital that you have strong pastoral skills and are able to manage challenging behaviour effectively. TEAM TEACH trained would be most advantageous although not essential however you will be confident in using de-escalation techniques in order to de-escalate and diffuse challenging behaviour.
The school are looking for someone who is creative and resilient and able to engage hard to reach children in learning. Applicants must also be flexible in the classroom and willing to support children across the school in a range of subjects, building self esteem and re-enforcing good behaviour.
Due to the background of the pupils, you will also need to be confident in working with multi agencies in order to meet individual needs and raise attainment.
This is a fantastic opportunity; this is also a chance to make a real difference to the lives of pupils and students, many of which have previously experienced difficultly in sustained learning within a mainstream provision.
If you feel that you meet the criteria above and are interested in discussing this opportunity further, please apply and one of our dedicated SEN consultants will contact you to discuss the process further. Alternatively, you can call us directly on 02476 463555
