Behavioural Support Specialists – Various Roles within School – The Wirral/ Liverpool
A number of exciting opportunities have arisen to appoint behavioural support specialists within a pupil referral units within The Wirral and Liverpool.
The position will be supporting children ages 11 to 16 with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.
The school has students who are in the care system and have challenging behaviour and all students have access to core curricular subjects as well as vocational programmes.
Due to the needs of the students it is vital that you have strong pastoral skills and are able to manage challenging behaviour effectively. A background in counselling, youth work or mental health care would be advantageous.
TEAM TEACH trained would be desirable but not essential, however a knowledge and confidence using de-escalation techniques in order to de-escalate and diffuse situations is a must.
The school is looking for Teaching Assistants, Mentors, Tutors and HLTA’s. The school are looking for someone who is creative and resilient and able to engage hard to reach children in learning. Applicants must also be flexible in the classroom and willing to support children across the school or possibly in other units in a range of subjects, building self-esteem and re-enforcing behaviour.
Applicants must be willing to travel between sites in Liverpool and The Wirral.
Due to the background of the pupils, you will also need to be confident in working with multi-agencies in order to meet individual needs and to assist in raising attainment.
