About the role:
justteachers are recruiting for a full-time temporary Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to start ASAP at a specialist educational provision in Grantham (NG31) supporting pupils aged 4-19 with a range of complex learning needs, communication difficulties and additional developmental needs.
This specialist setting provides a highly personalised and nurturing environment where pupils are supported to achieve their academic, social and personal potential. The school delivers a tailored curriculum designed to help learners develop communication, independence, emotional wellbeing and life skills through structured support and positive relationships.
As a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists and wider support staff to ensure pupils can access learning opportunities that meet their individual needs. You will play a vital role in supporting students who may require additional assistance with communication, sensory regulation, social interaction and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
Support pupils on a one-to-one and small-group basis throughout the school day.
Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning activities and interventions.
Support pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
Help implement EHCP outcomes and individual support plans.
Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning needs.
Promote independence, confidence and engagement with learning.
Support pupils during structured learning, outdoor activities and enrichment sessions.
Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and external professionals.
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Pre-requisites:
Previous experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults.
Experience supporting SEND pupils is desirable.
Knowledge of autism, communication difficulties or complex learning needs would be beneficial.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patient, nurturing and resilient approach.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Ability to provide two professional references covering the last two years of employment, education or training.
