About the role:

Justteachers is working with a secondary school in Birmingham that is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher to join its successful languages department. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed practitioner who can deliver engaging and inspiring lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the ability to teach French, Spanish, or another modern foreign language. You’ll plan and deliver well-structured lessons that develop pupils’ language skills, cultural awareness, and confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The ideal candidate will set high expectations, assess progress effectively, and create an inclusive classroom environment where students are motivated to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging MFL lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 in line with the school curriculum.

  • Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to support pupils of different abilities and learning needs.
  • Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, providing clear and constructive feedback to support achievement.
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and purposeful classroom environment in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy.
  • Promote an appreciation of different languages and cultures, encouraging students to develop confidence in their communication skills.
  • Contribute to departmental planning, enrichment activities, and the wider life of the school.

Pre-requisites:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Modern Foreign Languages, with the ability to teach French, Spanish, or another MFL subject confidently.
  • Experience teaching MFL within a UK secondary school, including Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Effective classroom management, communication, organisation, assessment, and interpersonal skills.
  • A secure understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and the ability to provide two relevant professional references.
