About the role:

A specialist SEMH setting in Boston is seeking a resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support pupils across KS2 and KS3 who are working within a primary-style curriculum. The school provides a structured, therapeutic environment for young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, focusing on emotional regulation, relationship building, and positive engagement with learning. This is a full-time position starting immediately, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs throughout the school day, helping them access learning opportunities, follow routines, and develop confidence within the classroom environment.
  • Assist in delivering a primary-based curriculum by adapting activities, breaking down learning tasks, and providing targeted support to meet individual needs.
  • Use positive behaviour support strategies, restorative approaches, and emotional regulation techniques to help pupils remain engaged and achieve their goals.
  • Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to implement individual support plans, monitor progress, and promote both academic and personal development.

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, additional learning needs, or related challenges within educational, care, or support settings.
  • Understanding of the barriers to learning often experienced by pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs, and strategies to support positive outcomes.
  • Confidence building strong professional relationships, managing challenging situations calmly, and maintaining consistent boundaries and expectations.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in Teaching Assistance, Youth Work, Childcare, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or a related field would be advantageous.
