About the role:
justteachers are recruiting for a full-time temporary to permanent Teaching Assistant to start ASAP at a specialist educational provision in Newark (NG22) supporting pupils aged 5-19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and additional learning requirements.
This specialist setting provides a nurturing and structured learning environment for pupils who benefit from smaller class sizes, personalised support and strong pastoral care. The school is committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and achieve positive academic and personal outcomes.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide classroom-based and pastoral support throughout the school day. You will help pupils access learning, regulate emotions, develop positive relationships and build the skills needed to achieve success both in school and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:
Support pupils within lessons and structured learning activities.
Provide one-to-one and small-group support.
Assist with personalised learning programmes and intervention activities.
Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
Encourage engagement, attendance and participation in learning.
Support pupils with social, emotional and communication development.
Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and pastoral teams.
Monitor pupil progress and wellbeing.
Contribute to a safe and nurturing learning environment.
Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times.
Pre-requisites:
Previous experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults.
Experience supporting SEND, SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Ability to provide two professional references covering the last two years of employment, education or training.
