About the role:

justteachers are recruiting for a full-time temporary PRU Teaching Assistant to start in September at an alternative provision in Peterborough (PE4) supporting pupils aged 11-16 who require additional behavioural, emotional and educational support.

This specialist setting supports learners who may have faced challenges within mainstream education and require a more personalised approach to learning. Staff work collaboratively to re-engage pupils with education, improve confidence and support positive outcomes.

As a PRU Teaching Assistant, you will play an essential role in helping students manage barriers to learning while providing academic, behavioural and pastoral support.

Key Responsibilities:

Support pupils in lessons and intervention sessions.
Assist with behaviour support plans.
Promote engagement and attendance.
Help pupils develop positive coping strategies.
Build positive and professional relationships.
Support vocational and practical learning activities.
Monitor pupil progress and wellbeing.
Maintain safeguarding standards.

Pre-requisites:

Experience working with young people.
SEMH, PRU or alternative provision experience desirable.
Strong behaviour management skills.
Resilient and adaptable approach.
Excellent communication skills.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Ability to provide two professional references covering the last two years of employment, education or training.
