About the role:

A specialist SEMH provision near Boston supporting primary and  secondary‑aged students with SEMH needs. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment with a strong focus on core subjects, personal development and independent life skills.

This position is to begin in May, working five days a week, with the role continuing into the new academic year. The post covers both the school day and residential provision, supporting young people across education and care settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support adapted learning in the classroom by working closely with teaching staff to scaffold tasks, break learning into manageable steps, and reinforce core concepts so that students with SEMH needs can confidently access the curriculum.
  • Use trauma‑informed and relational approaches to promote engagement, including predictable routines, visual prompts, and hands‑on, practical learning to maintain focus and participation.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation by modelling coping strategies, offering calm and supportive interventions and using restorative conversations to help students re‑engage with learning.

Pre-requisites:

  • Experience working with children or young people in schools, alternative provisions, PRUs, youth work, residential care, or other structured learning or support environments.
  • A strong understanding of SEMH needs and how these can influence behaviour, relationships, and engagement, with the ability to respond using calm, trauma‑informed practices.
  • Knowledge of a range of active learning and behaviour‑support strategies, including explaining concepts clearly, modelling tasks, and helping students remain engaged within both classroom and residential settings.
