justteachers are seeking a 1:1 behaviour support assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Tameside. The full-time post is due to start after February half term with shortlisting currently taking place.

This school is a well-equipped institution with modern facilities designed to support student learning and development. The school boasts state-of-the-art classrooms, a well-stocked library, science and computer labs, and expansive sports facilities, creating an environment conducive to academic and extracurricular success.

While the school provides excellent resources, some challenges exist, particularly in Year 9, where a group of students presents behavioural and engagement difficulties. The school actively addresses these challenges through strong pastoral support, dedicated teaching staff, and targeted intervention programs. Despite these hurdles, the school remains committed to fostering a positive learning environment, ensuring all students have the opportunity to thrive.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Support and Mentorship: Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with behavioural challenges, using positive reinforcement strategies to encourage engagement, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Sports-Based Intervention: Utilise sports and physical activities to build rapport, improve confidence, and promote positive behaviour, integrating movement-based strategies to enhance focus and motivation
  • Collaboration and Supervision: Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams to implement tailored behaviour plans, monitor progress, and adapt support strategies to meet the student’s individual needs

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • Relevant qualifications (Degree or Level 2 TA ideally)
  • Proven experience supporting young people
  • Knowledge of SEND and awareness of the struggles of being a teenager
  • One education or school-based references
