justteachers is looking for a dedicated and reliable Caretaker to join a specialist school setting in LS10, Leeds. This role is essential in ensuring that the school environment remains safe, clean, and fully operational, providing pupils and staff with a well-maintained space to learn and work effectively.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs to keep the school in top condition.
  • Ensure the security of the premises, including opening and closing the school each day.
  • Conduct regular health and safety checks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Oversee site cleanliness, including liaising with cleaning staff and contractors.
  • Manage heating, lighting, and alarm systems to ensure they function correctly.
  • Assist with setting up classrooms and school facilities for special events or activities.
  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues to minimise disruption.

Requirements and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous caretaking, site management, or maintenance experience, ideally in a school or similar setting.
  • Basic DIY and repair skills with an ability to handle general maintenance tasks.
  • A strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work.
