justteachers are seeking a behaviour support assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Bolton. The full-time post is due to start after February half term with shortlisting currently taking place.

A secondary school in Bolton is known for its strong academic performance, consistently achieving good grades across a range of subjects. However, despite this success in terms of academic outcomes, the school faces challenges with student behaviour, particularly in Years 7 and 8. These students often struggle with maintaining focus and displaying the level of respect and responsibility expected within the classroom. This behaviour can disrupt learning and hinder the school’s ability to create a fully supportive and productive environment for all pupils. In response, the school is actively seeking strategies to address these behavioural issues, with a focus on improving engagement, building positive relationships, and creating a more structured approach to behaviour management for students in these year groups. Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide individual support: Work directly with students or clients to implement behaviour intervention plans, ensuring they receive the guidance they need to improve social, emotional, and behavioural skills.
  • Monitor and track progress: Collect data on client behaviour, document observations, and report any significant changes to the behaviour support team or relevant professionals.
  • Collaborate with teams: Work alongside teachers, therapists, and other staff to develop and adjust behaviour plans, ensuring consistent and effective support across various environments.

To be considered for this role, candidates must have:

  • Relevant qualifications (Degree or Level 2 TA ideally)
  • Proven experience supporting young people
  • Knowledge of SEND and awareness of the struggles of being a teenager
  • One education or school-based references
